Enrichment Programs

In addition, we have the following programs designed to enhance your child’s learning and fun
here at The Blue Kangaroo Day School.

COMPUTER TOTS-
Thursday Mornings– This world-renowned program comes to The Blue Kangaroo to introduce children 2 1/2  – 6 years to the exciting world of computers through their talented teachers, turtle puppet mascot and playful computer neighborhoods.  Brochures and enrollment forms are available in The Blue Kangaroo front office.  This class is held in our multi-purpose room with 4 children at a time.  Tuition for this program is paid directly to ComputerTots.  Please note:  Computer instruction is also incorporated in daily classroom instruction in our PreK and Kindergarten classes free of charge.

MUSIC-
Performs to our Infants-Kindergarten children every Friday morning each week, during our school year. Our music program introduces them to rhythm and beats of music.  This fun filled program is sponsored by The Blue Kangaroo.

TUMBLE BUS -
The Tumble Bus rolls up to The Blue Kangaroo every Tuesday morning.  This fun tumbling class is for children ages 18 months and up. You may sign up daily, for a session or for the whole year.

SOCCER-
This program will be available every Wednesday morning during our Fall, Spring and Summer sessions for children ages 3 years and up. Classes will be held outside in our fenced in playground. Enrollment forms are available in the front office.  Tuition varies according to program.

STRETCH–n-GROW-
A program developed to enhance your child’s overall body fitness while increasing his or her total self-image and confidence in a positive way.  This gymnastic program is available for Toddlers, PreK 1, PreK-2 ,PreK-3 , and Kindergarten students. It will be held every other Wednesday morning for our Toddlers and PreK-1 children, and every Monday afternoon for our PreK-2 –Kindergarten children. This program is sponsored by The Blue Kangaroo.

BALLET, TAP AND JAZZ DANCE-
For children ages 3 and up.  Technique, muscle control, balance and flexibility are just a part of the benefits of this fun class. Class meets every Monday morning. Enrollment forms are available in the front office.

CHEERLEADING-
Designed by a professional cheerleader to teach children 4 years and up the basics of jumps, arm movements, chants, cheers and lots of spirit. A short pep rally highlighting your child’s abilities will be held at the last class. Class meets every Wednesday morning.                           

COOKING-
Cooking class runs every Thursday afternoon starting at 3:15. Each class runs for 45 minutes. Children will learn and have the ability to create their own food while learning basic cooking skills. This class is available to our PreK2, PreK3 and Kindergarten children. Cost per 10 week session is $125.

SATURDAY NIGHT BABYSITTING
The Blue Kangaroo offers babysitting at our facility on Saturday evenings from 6:30-11:00 PM.  There are at least two teachers from our school to supervise the children.  Any family that is registered at our school is able to use this service.  The fee is $45.00 for 1 child, and $10.00 each sibling.  You must sign-up in the front office or call in by Friday  to make reservations.  We are not open on Saturday to take requests, and walk-in’s are not permitted.  We provide pizza, movies and supervised fun for the children.  There is a 24 hour cancellation policy on our babysitting program. Cancellations less than 24 hours in advance will be charged 50% of the babysitting fee.

**Please note: Employees of The Blue Kangaroo are not permitted to baby-sit, off premise, for any child that attends our school.  We offer Saturday night baby-sitting at our facility to provide care for your child.

SUMMER PROGRAM
The fun never ends at The Blue Kangaroo.  Our school is open year round, keeping the same hours of operation throughout the summer months.  However, our programs take a seasonal twist with activities tailored to the lazy, hazy days of summer.  Splash day, field trips and nature discovery and on-site entertainment are all part of our exciting summer program. This program ends the week before Labor Day. Below is an outline for summer camp 2009.

 

Week 1 / June 29-July 3:  Stars & Stripes Week This week is to celebrate America! We will have a castle moonwalk on Wednesday for Woddlers and up. Have the children wear red, white and blue on the 2nd for our 4th of July parade! We are closed the 3rd.  Ice Cream truck starts on Wednesday at 3:00pm. Splash day begins this week on Thursday morning. 

 

Week 2 / July 6-10:  The Wonderful World Of DisneyThis week is to celebrate all of our favorite Disney classics and characters. We are closed on Monday. On Friday morning, PK1 and up will participate in an interactive storytelling session!  Cheerleading will begin this week. Ice cream truck on Wednesday at 3:00 pm and splash day is on Thursday morning. 

 

Week 3/ July 13-17: The Great OutdoorsWe will celebrate the beautiful outdoors any way we can! We will have a picnic on Monday, children should bring in a brown bag lunch or order from our hot lunch program. Musical Munchkins (music class) will be here Tuesday morning (Infants-Toddlers). Crayola Factory Trip on Wednesday (PK3 and Up). Ice cream truck on Wednesday at 3:00 pm and splash day on Thursday morning. We will sing campfire songs and make ‘smores on Friday.  

 

Week 4/July 20-24: It’s A Jungle Out ThereWe will go on an African adventure this week. Let’s look for elephants, tigers and all the creatures of the jungle. Turtle Back Zoo trip on Monday morning (PK 2 & Up). Ice cream truck on Wednesday at 3:00pm and splash day is on Thursday morning. 

 

Week 5/ July 27- July 31: Sports WeekThis week is all about sports! Support your favorite team on Tuesday, July 28th by wearing a hat, shirt etc. Patriots baseball game on Thursday,(Pk3 and up). School Field Day/School Spirit Day on Friday. Ice cream truck on Wednesday at 3:00 pm and splash day is on Thursday morning.

 

Week 6/ August 3-August 7: Under The Sea This week is about sea creatures, seashells and everything at the beach. Imagine That Trip on Thursday (Pk2 and Up). Family field trip to Jenkinson’s Aquarium on Friday. Ice cream truck on Wednesday at 3:00 pm and splash day is on Friday morning. 

 

Week 7/ August 10-14: Under The Big TopCircus fun!! Trip to Pump It Up (indoor play zone) on Monday morning, (PK2 and up).  The children will create a carnival game to share with school on Wednesday for our big top carnival. Ice cream truck on Wednesday at 3:00 pm and splash day is on THURSDAY morning. On Friday morning we will have pony rides and a petting zoo for all of our classrooms! 

 

Week 8/ August 17-21: Hawaiian WeekThis week is to learn all about the Hawaiian culture. Musical Munchkins (music class) will be here on Tuesday morning (Infants-Toddlers). Lizard Guys on Tuesday afternoon (Toddlers & Up). Limbo day on Wednesday and Luau on Thursday. Ice cream truck on Wednesday at 3:00 pm and splash day is on Friday morning. 

 

Week 9/August 24-28: Wild, Wild West

This week is all about the wild west! Come to camp dressed in your cowboy gear on Tuesday and get ready to sing cowboy songs under the stars. Ice cream truck on Wednesday at 3:00 pm and splash day is on Friday morning. The Teddy Bear Stuffer will be here on Thursday morning for all of our classrooms.

 

 Week 10/ August 31-Sept 3: Road Trip Across The USA

We will be packing a suitcase this week to a destination of classroom choice. Children will pick a state to travel to and find fun vacation places to visit within the state. What will we do? What will we see? Throughout the course of the week we will share our vacation with all the other classrooms. Storyteller with balloon animals on Monday morning (PK1 and up). Ice cream truck on Wednesday at 3:00 pm. We are closed on Friday, September 4th. There will be no splash day this week.

All summer contracts must contain a start and end date. A non-refundable $50 registration fee is required at time of registration. Summer payments must be paid in full on child’s first contracted day.

We will not accept any changes in summer contracts once a contract has been signed. You are obligated for full payment as per your contract.  This includes vacation time, school closings, and sick days. 



SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN:  For those parents seeking after-school care for children ages 5-12 years.  The Blue Kangaroo offers a safe, secure and stimulating environment.  Activities such as creative art, science and discovery, dramatic play and constructive building are designed to complement daily school activities and, at the same time, promote further learning and development.  Children may also receive assistance with school assignments.  Most importantly, the child is given the opportunity to choose from a variety of individual or group activities.  If your child’s school is closed due to teacher conferences, vacation, or snow days, please contact the front office if you would like to schedule a drop-in day.

TRANSPORTATION:  If your child attends Cedar Hill Elementary School in Basking Ridge, bussing to The Blue Kangaroo may be provided through the Bernards Township school district. (Please contact Bernards Township school district for eligibility)  

PARENT REFERRAL PROGRAM:  Any family that refers a friend to our school will receive a coupon eligible for one free night of babysitting upon contract signing.  Please see babysitting details on your coupon.
